Sources are reporting a Tulsa energy company executive might be Governor Stitt’s pick to fill the remainder of Markwayne Mullin in the U.S. Senate, if Mullin is confirmed to be the new Secretary of the Department of Homeland Security.
The Governor’s Office has not confirmed the reports yet, but the D.C.-based media company NOTUS and News 9 in Oklahoma City are reporting that Tulsa-based Williams Companies board chairman Alan Armstrong has been chosen by Governor Stitt to replace Mullin.
Stitt and Armstrong reportedly went to Mar-a-Lago Sunday to meet with President Trump.
Armstrong is a Bartlesville native and has been with Williams for nearly 40 years.
If picked, he’ll serve as Senator for about 7 months.
As a temporary appointee, he would not be allowed to run for the November election to fill the seat for the next term.
