OKLAHOMA — If Oklahoma Independent voters want to change their party affiliation to vote in the state’s primaries, they have until next week to do so.
Residents must submit their party change no later than Tuesday, March 31.
In Oklahoma, voters must be a registered member of a party to vote in that party’s primary election. In the past, Independents were allowed to vote in the Democrat Patrty primary, however this year the state election board says no parties have filed paperwork in time to open their primaries to Independent voters.
All voters will be able to vote in the general election, regardless of party affiliation.
If you would like to change you party affiliation, you can use the OK Voter Portal here or you can fill out a new voter registration application.
