TULSA, Okla. — A gas leak is blocking a section of the road near East 68th Street and South Yale Avenue near Saint Francis; however, the hospital said it’s main campus is unaffected at this time.
The access road near the hospital’s Health Zone Fitness Center is blocked off while Oklahoma Natural Gas (ONG) continues repairs.
The Laureate Psychiatric Clinic and Hospital campus is also in the area, but is set to continue operations without any loss of gas to their facilities, according to the hospital.
According to Public Service Company of Oklahoma, crews were working in the area on a transmission line rebuild project.
PSO said the crew instantly stopped their work and allowed ONG to come in and begin repairing the line.
They said no one from PSO was injured in the incident.
Oklahoma Natural Gas released the following statement about the gas leak:
“Earlier today, we responded to the area near 68th Street and Yale Avenue in Tulsa, where a third-party contractor struck a natural gas line. Oklahoma Natural Gas is onsite and we expect the repairs to be completed later tonight. For safety reasons, natural gas has been turned off at the site while repairs are made.
Safety is our top priority, so we want to remind everyone that if they have a natural gas emergency or smell natural gas, leave the area immediately and then call 911 and 800-458-4251. In addition, call 811 or submit a line locate request at OKIE811.org at least 48 hours, excluding the date of notification, weekends and holidays, before starting any digging project.”
