OKLAHOMA CITY — Chuck Norris has been posthumously recognized for lifetime achievement and his contributions to the State of Oklahoma.
State Representative Stacy Jo Adams (R-Duncan) filed a concurrent resolution to recognize the actor and philanthropist. On Monday, the resolution was heard and adopted and will move the Senate for further consideration.
“Chuck Norris is one of our own, and his story is something Oklahomans can really take pride in,” said Adams. “From serving our country to becoming a global name in martial arts and entertainment, he’s always carried himself with strength and character. This resolution is just a small way to recognize all he’s accomplished and the example he continues to set.”
Norris served in the United States Air Force then went on to become a world-famous martial artist. Norris is most known for his role in the television series “Walker, Texas Ranger.”
On top of his entertainment success, Norris was known to be a philanthropist, having supported various efforts, including programs centered toward youth development.
The resolution, House Concurrent Resolution 1021, allowed the state to formally recognize the dedication and contributions of Norris to the arts, athletics, and the state.
