Suspect dead following stand off with police officers in Collinsville

COLLINSVILLE, Okla. — A person is dead following a stand off with law enforcement Thursday night in Collinsville.

According to the Owasso Police Department, they were called in to assist with the Collinsville Police Department regarding a disturbance call at a home near 2300 West Maple Street at approximately 10 p.m.

An armed suspect was outdoors threatening to kill other family members inside the home as well as neighbors and police officers when they arrived on scene. The suspect went back inside the home while other family members escaped.

Collinsville and Owasso Police then set up a perimeter and attempted to make contact with the suspect. Neighbors in the area were advised to shelter in place. Owasso deployed the Owasso Police SWAT Team, crisis negotiation team, multiple K9s and a drone team. The negotiators attempted to make contact with the suspect for hours using loudspeakers and cellphones while the drones provided overwatch.

During the incident, officers and neighbors reported hearing a gunshot inside the home. The SWAT team used an armored rescue vehicle to break a window and fly in a drone to conduct a search. The suspect was found inside with an apparent gunshot wound to the head. Police say they showed no signs of life. A pistol was seen next to the suspect.

The SWAT team then made entry into the home and found no other occupants inside and confirmed the suspect was dead.

The scene was then turned over to Collinsville Police for criminal investigation. Owasso Police say there were no other injuries.
