TULSA, Okla. — A man is dead following an officer-involved shooting at a convenience store on Apache and Harvard in north Tulsa Wednesday morning.
According to the Tulsa Police Department, officers responded to a call about a man threatening workers at the convenience store around 1:45 a.m.
Police say a man matching the description of stabbing suspect from an incident at Apache Manor entered the store, stole a beer and when confronted by security, pulled out a bloody knife and threatened them. After the suspect left, security locked the door and called 911.
Officers arrived and found the suspect wielding two knives walking east from the store toward a mobile home community and Apache Manor. Officers followed the suspect and gave the man commands to drop the knife and surrender.
The suspect refused to follow commands and as he approached passing motorists and got closer to residents, officers deployed pepper balls, a bean bag launcher, pepper spray and taser to stop him.
The suspect then threw a knife and hit an officer while refusing to drop another knife, which police described as a butcher knife. An officer then fired their gun hitting the suspect.
Police say the officer rendered first aid to the suspect who was then taken to the hospital where he died from his injuries.
Police have identified the suspect as 34 year old Marsean Jacue Taylor.
Police say no officers were injured.
