TULSA, Okla. — A new temple is coming for Temple Israel in Tulsa and they’re making sure to preserve some of the features of the old building that’s being demolished now.
A groundbreaking and genizah ceremony is set to take place on Sunday, April 12 at 3:30 p.m.
The buidling by Utica Square had been there for 70 years. Temple Israel says it’s raised $12.5 million dollars so far and is most of the way to funding the new building.
The new temple will include two sanctuaries, a larger outdoors gathering place and a smaller one for smaller ceremonies.
There will also be an outdoor space called the Sacred Garden, which is a part of the history Temple Israel is saving.
To RSVP for the event, you can go here. There will be no on-site parking. They ask that you park on side streets or at Utica Square.
