For the first time in 15 years, QuikTrip has a new look.

The Tulsa-based chain opened its first Gen 4 store in Broken Arrow at 5230 E. Kenosha St. Thursday morning. The new layout is 1,300 sq. ft. larger than previous QTs to make room for an expanded QT Kitchens experience and better flow throughout the store, company officials said.

“This store was designed based on input from everybody.” QuikTrip Vice President of Store Design and Projects Kelli Ostmeyer told KRMG.

She said everybody from sales, company operations, vendors were all consulted in designing QT’s first layout change since 2010.

Ostmeyer said most of that larger footprint is in the kitchen, where she said the company wanted room to grow.

“We wanted to be able to pivot if QuikTrip changes their menu, adds something new, takes something away, we wanted to be able to come in and remodel without a lot of disruption to the store employees or our customers.” Ostmeyer added.

QT regulars will notice another major change in how you enter and exit the store. Rather than two doors in front and one on each end, there’s just one way in and out.

The Gen 4 QT has more food offerings as well, according to QT’s Corporate Chef Ryan Boone. He said new offerings at this store include crispy chicken tenders, buffalo wings, a limited-jalapeno popper pizza and chicken quesadillas.

He said they’ve revamped their beverage offerings as well with all new equipment and additional options.

With its larger size, the new store has a dedicated area for QT Kitchens that Chef Boone said was meant to help with foot traffic.

“We definitely are aware that sometimes our stores get really busy and you can feel like you’re in the way if you’re waiting on some fresh food that you just ordered.” Boone said. “So now, in front of our kitchen we’ve got a dedicated waiting space.”

Another Gen 4 QT is already under construction in Tulsa and others are coming soon to Wichita, Kansas and Joplin, Missouri.
