TULSA, Okla. — Tulsa International Airport and TNP Fuels celebrated the opening of the airport’s first onsite convenience store called the Fuel & Fly Mart on Tuesday.

“We’re gathered today for the ribbon cutting and the grand opening of Fuel & Fly Mart here at the airport,” shared Pete Patel, the President and CEO of Promise Hotels and TNP Fuels, which is the convenience store division of the company. “It’s Tulsa International’s first convenience store onsite. There’s been a huge need for convenience, gas and food here. With this store, we’re going to hopefully be able to fill that need.

While the new convenience store will assist travelers, Patel said he ultimately hopes it makes the lives of those working at the airport a bit easier.

“We’re now finally at opening day and it’s turned out to be a great store, and again, we’re going to be able to serve the needs of the airport. There’s 13,000 employees here onsite at the airport and they have to go over two miles to the nearest convenience store. To be onsite, I think that’s a great convenience for them.”

The store aims to offer a wide variety of products travelers or airport employees might need.

“We’re one of the first convenience stores in Tulsa with a drive-through, so even more convenient. As well as our partnership with PFS Foods, which is Champs Chicken and Hangar 54 Pizza, so we’ll have chicken, pizza. We’ve got all kinds of stuff here—all of your convenience store needs—as well as we are one of the few Tulsa supercharging sites. We have that also besides our gas.”

Patel said they’ve been working to bring the convenience store to the airport for over two years.
