The Berryhill Fire Department Board has voted against a proposed merger with the Turley Fire and Rescue.
In February, Turley Fire Department Board asked the community to sign a petition to place Title 19 and a proposed merger with Berryhill Fire Department on the ballot.
The Berryhill Fire Department Board voted against moving forward with the proposed resolution. Due to this, the petition can no longer be used as it required Berryhill Fire to act as the sponsor for the Title 19 Fire District.
“We want to express our heartfelt appreciation to the Turley community, Turley Fire & Rescue, and every volunteer who stepped forward,” said the Turley Fire and rescue Board. “Our officers and firefighters put their own lives on pause to gather signatures and advocate for the future of this department, and we are grateful for their dedication.”
Turley Fire said it does not currently have a plan for what they will do next, but it said it is exploring every option to “secure funding and continue serving the Turley community.”
