TULSA, Okla. — Tulsa Firefighters battled a fire at an apartment complex in south Tulsa Thursday morning.
According to TFD, District 5 crews were alerted to an apartment fire at Sheridan Ponds near 81st Street and Sheridan just after 8 a.m. The initial call said flames were on the ceiling meaning it had already extended to the attic where it potentially started.
Crews began an interior fire attack and search, but due to the worsening structural conditions, they had to pull back and switch to a defensive exterior attack using ladder trucks and rim nozzles. Once the fire was knocked down enough, crews made re-entry and were dealing with the fire.
After over an hour and a half of fighting the fire, crews got the fire under control around 9:45 a.m.
TFD says no injuries have been reported and multiple pets were rescued. Firefighters are currently on scene taking care of hotspots.
Fire investigators will determine what caused the fire. TFD states that due to the damage, residents will most likely be displaced.
