COLLINSVILLE, Okla. — A former special education teacher has been accused of hitting a student at an elementary school in Collinsville.
According to an affidavit, Michelle Francis, was seen on surveillance footage on March 30 at Herald Elementary School being hit by a student in the face. After that, Francis is seen striking the student in the face.
According to a statement from Collinsville Public School Superintendent, Dr. Jeremy Hogan, the district was made aware of the incident who then placed Francis on leave. A date was set for her termination hearing in April, but the day before the hearing, Francis submitted her resignation, which was accepted by the board of education.
“The parents of the student involved were promptly informed of the incident and have been kept updated throughout the internal process,” Hogan said in the statement. “Additionally, the parents of all students in the affected classroom were notified of the situation and kept updated.”
