EDMOND, Okla. — Sunday night near the Scissortail Campground at Arcadia Lake, the Edmond Police responded to a mass shooting.
The incident took place during an “unsanctioned party” that began after sunset and was advertised over social media.
Police said approximately 23 people were injured.

The Youth Peace & Justice Foundation (also known as the Uvalde Foundation for Kids) announced it was activating its National Emergency Relief Fund in response to the shooting in Edmond.
“This is exactly the kind of situation this fund was created for,” said Founder and President of the Youth Peace & Justice Foundation, Daniel Chapin. “When something like this happens, families don’t have time to wait. They need help immediately while their loved ones are still in hospitals and uncertainty is still unfolding.”
The foundation said it is working to make sure the families involved and impacted by this shooting are receiving “rapid, direct support” including access to emergency funds within 24 hours or less after application approval.
The emergency fund is now open to those families. Injured victims, parents and legal guardians of injured minors, and immediate family members are all eligible to apply for funding.
“When dozens of families are suddenly in crisis, response cannot be slow or fragmented,” said Chapin. “We are committed to making sure support is already in motion when communities need it most.”
The emergency fund provides financial assistance for medical and trauma-related costs, temporary housing and relocation assistance, funeral and memorial support, transportation and family reunification support, essential household needs, and counseling and crisis recovery services.
“Our goal is not to ask families or communities to start over every time tragedy strikes,” Chapin said, “The structure is already in place. The response is already active. Assistance moves immediately once approval happens.”
