New neon sign lights up Blue Whale on Route 66

CATOOSA, Okla. – On Monday night, the city of Catoosa marked a major milestone in the Blue Whale facelift by throwing the switch on the brand-new neon sign.

The new sign brings the nostalgia of Route 66 to one of the most iconic destinations along the Mother Road.

Construction is quickly wrapping up on the new visitor center, which will create a more attractive destination for travelers to stop in Catoosa.

Visitors will be able to learn the history of the Blue Whale through historical artwork and photos.

The center also includes a gift shop, food options, and an event space.

A big grand opening celebration kicks off on May 30th with a 5K run, a ribbon-cutting ceremony, and fireworks.
