Over the past 10 years, Oklahoma Central Foundation has awarded hundreds of thousands of dollars in scholarships, and this year, they added to the total amount.
Oklahoma Central Foundation recently awarded 26 scholarships totaling $52,000, and Foundation Manager Alicia McLain says this scholarship is a little different. The program uses a 2.0 GPA requirement, keeping the scholarship within reach for students whose life circumstances may not be fully reflected by their GPA. Most scholarships require a 3.0 GPA.
“We wanted to be able to impact as many students as possible, and that’s why we set a lower GPA,” McLain said.
Each recipient received a $2,000 scholarship, and in 10 years, the foundation has awarded 168 scholarships, totaling $272,000.
“These are Oklahoma students that are attending colleges here in Oklahoma — colleges, universities, community colleges, and trade schools,” McLain said.
