TULSA, Okla. — It’s been one week since it was reported that the Vesta owned properties were having issues with their trash management. It has been two weeks since residents and the properties have had no real garbage cans.
The temporary red construction bins are filled to the brim. Denice Woods, a resident of Woodland Manor, said the trash brought a disgusting, new problem.
“The other day, I was out and saw maggots,” said Woods. “I was not happy at all. It goes back to [them] not doing the bare minimum that is required for public health.”
The city was forced to step in. They said “temporary trash receptacles have been placed at seven of the nine properties.” The city also sent crews to clean up last week and are now billing the landlord.
At One Eton Square, there is no visible trash bin and Shoreline had blue bins from a different company, raising more questions.
The bin rental company said the containers are emptied when the renters ask for them to be. If the trash goes above the fill line, the company adds an extra fee.
Tenants said they believe the original trash company pulled their dumpsters because Vesta stopped paying the bill.
Audrey Drenner, a tenant at Barcelona Apartments, said the whole thing has felt like a nightmare.
“There’s no answer for us,” said Drenner. “We’re just kind of brushed to the side. You’re treated just like another apartment tenant number.”
FOX23 called Vesta Capital, but just like last week, the call went to voicemail.
The people who live in these apartments said they just want the trash issue fixed.
