SAPULPA — The Oklahoma Highway Patrol worked a fiery, multi-vehicle crash Wednesday on the Turner Turnpike at the Sapulpa exit near Kellyville that killed at least one person.
OHP Lt. Mark Southall tells KRMG that around 1:15 p.m., a semi-truck was parked on the outside shoulder when a truck pulling a trailer drifted off the roadway and struck the back of the semi. Both vehicles caught fire, and Southall said this is a fatal crash, but they aren’t sure how many people have died. The semi driver was injured with non-life-threatening injuries. Two horses were removed from the trailer, and one may have died. OHP is still investigating.
Several lanes were shut down, but they are open again. The crash occurred on the eastbound side of the turnpike, and all eastbound lanes were closed at one point. The westbound lanes were opened at around 3 p.m.
