A state lawmaker has sent a letter voicing concerns about possible parole for the woman convicted of a mass murder at a Sirloin Stockade.
Senate President Pro Tempore Lonnie Paxton sent the letter to the Oklahoma Pardon and Parole Board about Verna Stafford.
Stafford and her husband were convicted for the nine murders in 1978.
KOKH reports that Stafford is requesting parole next week because she claims her husband Roger was responsible for the murders of six employees at the restaurant and a family on the side of the road.
“It was important to me to remind the members of the Pardon and Parole Board what this individual was involved in,” said Pro Tem Paxton. “Stafford was convicted for her role in one of the most horrific mass murders in Oklahoma history, leaving our state in shock and fear. Nine innocent people lost their lives, and their families have lived with that loss for nearly five decades. There are no conditions, circumstances or arguments that can justify recommending her release.”
