Tulsa man sentenced to four years for strangling his girlfriend

U.S. District Judge William P. Johnson sentenced 39-year-old Robert Wickham Wednesday for Assault of an Intimate/Dating Partner by Strangling and Attempting to Strangle in Indian Country.

U.S. Attorney Clint Johnson says after Wickham is released, he’ll be supervised for three years.

According to court documents, Wickman physically abused his girlfriend for years and has a criminal history that goes back nearly 20 years.

In June 2025, his girlfriend was subpoenaed to testify in court about the abuse.

Prosecutors say Wickman’s girlfriend told him that she had been subpoenaed and a few days later police were called to their home for domestic abuse.

The charges violated a no-contact order that had been issued in a pending domestic violence case against Wickman in tribal court.

Wickman is a citizen of the Navajo Tribe and will remain in custody pending transfer to the U.S. Bureau of Prisons.
