With every donation made, participants got a $10 coupon towards a new pair of jeans.

“We have decided this year to partner with the Baptist Children’s Home to help them with the kids, the teens, and moms in need there.” says Tammy Petro, Store Lead at Maurices.

Melissa Litke, Campus Director at Owasso Baptist Children’s Home, says they are thankful for their partnership with the clothing store and it really shows that the community cares.

“We have been very very blessed for years that we come in every year for our big back to school event and do our shopping here and Maurices staff has been incredible with us,” says Litke. “So generous, so kind, so accommodating, and so friendly to all of our kids. We’re just really excited they’re doing our denim drive for us because every denim pair that we get for our child or for some of our single moms is just a reminder that people in their community are noticing them and they care about them and we’re grateful to have partners like Maurices.”

Litke says the Children’s Home has been serving families and children in crisis in the Tulsa area for more than 50 year.

“We serve children ages 6 all the way up to 17, but we also serve single mothers and their children. Some of them have infants and toddlers. so as they mentioned, any size helps. Just for children and single moms who are going through difficult seasons it’s just so reassuring that people in your community care about you and that you’re seen even just through a simple pair of jeans.”

The drive will go on through the end of August. Their goal is 300 pairs of jeans. Litke said they are halfway there.
