A now fired apprentice police officer with the Sand Springs Police Department was arrested after a months-long investigation, police said.
Sand Springs police said 26-year-old Isaac Ogburn was arrested for kidnapping, attempting to perform an act of violence, assault with intent to commit a felony, destroying evidence, and impersonating an officer.
Sand Springs Police said Ogburn’s arrest comes after a “month’s long investigation by the TPD SVU unit.” The investigation focused on a kidnapping and a sexual assault that took place in Tulsa on July 30, said Sand Springs Police.
According to the victim, she met Ogburn near 61st and Peoria in Tulsa and spoke about the “price for sexual activity.” Ogburn drove the victim to a secluded area, took her out the car, patted her down after telling her he was a “vice cop” and that the victim was “under arrest unless she performed sex acts.”
Police said the victim escaped and ran into the Arkansas River where a hiker heard her screaming for help and called 911. Using the suspect’s description and FLOCK cameras, investigators were able to find a car matching the description given by the victim.
Ogburn was identified as the suspect. Ogburn was an apprentice police officer with the Sand Springs Police Department, having begun working with them on July 20.
During his employment, investigators said Ogburn was never allowed near civilians alone. He was fired on September 5 after arriving for his shift and was interviewed by detectives, Sand Springs Police said.
Ogburn was arrested by Sand Springs Police on a warrant related to the charges and was booked into the Tulsa County Jail.
