OWASSO, Okla. — The City of Owasso has shared details on two upcoming cleanup events that will help tackle that growing pile of unwanted items in your house.
On Sept. 19, the City is holding a Free Landfill Day from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Waste Management-Quarry Landfill (13740 East 46th Street North).
Free Landfill Day is available to eligible Owasso residents. Participants must bring a current City of Owasso utility bill and a government-issued ID with an Owasso address. Tires, hazardous materials, liquids, and appliances containing Freon refrigerants will not be accepted.
On Sept. 26, the City is holding a Household Collection and Recycling Event from 8 a.m. to noon at the Tulsa Tech – Owasso Campus (10800 North 137th East Avenue).
The City said everyone is welcome to come clear out unwanted household items and recycle them responsibly. Participants do not have to live in Owasso.
Accepted items in the Household Collection and Recycling Event include:
- Tires – Up to 10 per person. No rims, tractor tires, or commercial customers
- Batteries – Automotive and household
- E-Waste – Computers, printers, electronics, and small appliances under 50 pounds. Fees apply for monitors and TVs.
- Paper and Plastic Grocery Bags
- Paper Shredding – Up to 4 file boxes per vehicle
- Fire Extinguishers
- Cardboard – Must be flattened
- Medication
- Sharps – Must be in a sealed, hard container
- Ammunition – Pistol, rifle, and shotgun
