OKLAHOMA — The Center for Reproductive Rights filed a lawsuit on Wednesday on behalf of two Oklahoma women who received fatal fetal diagnoses and had to leave the state to treat the condition because of Oklahoma’s abortion law.
The lawsuit says Magon Hoffman and Sheena Hamlin were denied abortion care after learning from doctors their babies were not going to survive, forcing them to spend thousands of dollars to travel to other states to get care.
The lawsuit argues that it is unconstitutional to force women to remain pregnant in situations that could be detrimental to their health, or even cause death if left untreated. The plaintiffs add that Oklahomans should have the freedom from government overreach to decide what’s best for themselves and their families.
