OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. — An Osage County judge has ruled that NextEra Energy Marketing did violate state law and charged excessive natural gas prices during Winter Storm Uri back in 2021.
That ruling is a result of a lawsuit from Oklahoma Attorney General Gentner Drummond, who said the company exploited Oklahomans by artificially inflating gas prices during the storm.
He says the judge’s ruling is a major step in holding NextEra accountable.
The case now goes on to trial, which will decide the amount of damages the company has to pay.
