A Tahlequah police officer has been accused of excessive force.
The Tahlequah Police Department recently launched an internal investigation into an incident that occurred during an arrest.
Reports said that in late September, officer Michael Gray made an arrest and was accused of using excessive force. A few days later, Tahlequah Police Chief Nate King reviewed the arrest report and body-worn camera footage and found there was sufficient cause to open an internal investigation.
Officer Gray was then placed on administrative leave, pending the outcome of the investigation. Still, police say the action is administrative in nature and should not be interpreted as a finding of misconduct or guilt.
The Tahlequah Police Department says it is committed to a fair, thorough, and impartial review of the case
