SAPULPA, Okla. — Today is the day that Sapulpa Christmas Chute fans have been waiting almost two years for.
After taking a year off so that Dewey Street could be reconstructed, workers and volunteers started building a redesigned Christmas Chute this morning that organizers say will be bigger and better than before.
The chute will now extend all the way across Dewey Street, which itself was widened and now includes a center median along with other aesthetic improvements.
The new streetlight poles on Dewey were designed with added strength and with flat metal plates on top, with the intent of support the overhead beams on the chute.
The Sapulpa Christmas Chute opens on November 19th and runs through December 27th.
Hours will be from 4:30 p.m. – 11:00 p.m.
