1.6M pounds of meat products recalled over potential ‘temperature abuse’

Kayem Food has recalled 1.6 million pounds of meat products that may have gotten too warm at the warehouse.

The USDA said the recall includes ready-to-eat meat and poultry products including hot dogs, bacon, brisket, ham, and chicken sausage. Officials said a warehouse cooling failure led to what was called possible “temperature abuse.”

The USDA’s Food Safety and Inspection Service labeled the incident a Class I recall, pointing to a “reasonable probability” of “serious, adverse health consequences or death” for those who consume the products.
