BROKEN ARROW, Okla. — Broken Arrow Mayor Debra Wimpee spoke to KRMG Morning News with Skyler Cooper on Wednesday in the ‘BA Breakdown’ segment and was asked to give an update on the ongoing investigation into Broken Arrow Police Chief Lance Arnold, who has been put on paid administrative leave.
She says to protect an employee’s rights, she still can’t say anything about the case itself, including specific allegations, if any.
But she’s asking people to trust the process.
“I’m really hoping that we can kind of subdue the social media division that’s going on right now and allow this investigation to play out,” Wimpee said, adding that “everything will come out in due time.”
She said she understands that it can be frustrating for citizens to wait for information.
“I know it’s so hard, it’s hard on the families, it’s hard on the department, and it’s hard frankly on our citizens and the city as a whole,” Wimpee said. “What’s really hard for me is not being able to speak about it, not being able to speak to the police about it, y’know, our officers that so desperately want more information.”
She said she doesn’t have a timeline on how long the investigation is going to take and said she was waiting for an update on that.
