TULSA COUNTY, Okla. — Tulsa County Sheriff’s Deputies are giving points for creativity to a man who was wanted on some outstanding warrants, but they say his effort to use balloons to carry away his ankle monitor was unsuccessful.

It began Monday evening, they say, when they went to serve a felony warrant on 32-year-old William Jared Garcia.

They say he had reportedly tried to remove his ankle monitor.

They say Garcia took off running, hopping fences and cutting through yards in an effort to escape.

They say he was eventually taken into custody and say they found his ankle monitor tied to three yellow ‘smiley-face’ balloons, but the balloons weren’t strong enough to carry the ankle monitor away.

He was jailed for the outstanding warrants, and they say he’s now facing an additional charge of obstructing an officer.
