OKLAHOMA — The Oklahoma Route 66 Association is celebrating 100 years of the iconic road by participating in a caravan across the entire length of Route 66.
The Drive Home VII Routee 66 Caravan will be making its way through Oklahoma January 8-10.
The group of cars that have been assembled by America’s Automotive Trust include a 1960 Chrysler 300F, a 1967 Pontiac GTO, and 1969 Mercury Cougar and many others. The caravan will leave Santa Monica, California on January 3 and aim to drive the entire road to Chicago by January 12 before heading to the Detroit Auto Show where the cars will be on display. There will be multiple stops at different iconic locations along Route 66 and there will be several in Oklahoma. The stops and events will be:
Thursday, January 8th
- Photo stop in Erick at the Sandhills Curiosity Shop
- Museum tour in Clinton at the Oklahoma Route 66 Museum
- Dinner in Weatherford at Pecina’s Mexican Café in Weatherford
Friday, January 9th
- Photo stop in Hydro at Lucille’s Historic Gas Station
- Photo stop in Arcadia at Pops 66 Soda Ranch
- Photo stop in Luther at the Threatt Filling Station
- Lunch in Chandler at Route 66 Bowl
- Photo stop in Tulsa at the Meadow Gold Neon Sign and Buck Atom’s Cosmic Curios
- Dinner in Tulsa SMOKE Woodfire Grill
Saturday, January 10th
- Photo stop in Miami at the Coleman Theatre
- Lunch in Miami at the Main Street Café
The organization says anyone can join the caravan for as long as they like, but you will have to cover your own transportation, food and lodging. You can sign up to participate here.
