TULSA, Okla. — The Tulsa Zoo announced the hatching of another African Penguin chick along with a new start to their African Penguin encounter experience for zoo guests.
Taylor Harris, the Supervisor of Birds at the Tulsa Zoo, shared in a video on social media, “At the Tulsa Zoo, our goal is to connect wild animals, wild places, with our guests that come here to visit the zoo and through that, we have started a penguin encounter here at the Tulsa Zoo to help share the message of African Penguins since they are a very critically endangered species.”
The species’ endangered status is why the hatching of a new chick is so important.

The Zoo said this chick hatched on Tuesday.
In December, we covered the hatching of two other chicks at the zoo. The penguins’ nesting season is almost over, but Harris said there’s still a chance for more chicks to hatch.
The Tulsa Zoo will be holding their behind-the-scenes penguin encounters on Saturday and Sundays at 12:30 p.m.
