MUSKOGEE, Okla. — Muskogee City Manager Kendal Francis said Chad Farmer has been named Muskogee’s new Chief of Police.
Farmer joined the Muskogee Police Department in Jan. 1995 and has moved up through the ranks over the years to his current position as Deputy Chief of Police.
“Chad brings extensive experience, a deep understanding of the Muskogee Police Department and our community, and a strong commitment to the officers and residents he services,” stated Francis. “Throughout the selection process, he demonstrated that he understands both the opportunities and challenges ahead and has a clear vision for the future of the department. I am confident in his ability to strengthen community trust, develop the department’s next generation of leaders and continue providing the professional, accountable law enforcement services our community deserves.”
Farmer is a graduate of the FBI National Academy and the International Association of Chiefs of Police Leadership in Police Organizations program. He also holds advanced certification through the Oklahoma Council on Law Enforcement Education and Training.
The city said Farmer has assisted with multiple police department projects and initiatives for Muskogee, including helping to implement body-worn cameras, new technology and records management systems, and officer wellness and peer-support programs.
He helped plan the Bass Reeves Memorial Public Safety Complex and has worked to secure and distribute almost $7 million in grants for law enforcement programs and equipment.
Farmer stated, “I am truly honored to be selected as Muskogee’s next Chief of Police. This department has ben a significant part of my life, and I have tremendous respect for the men and women who serve here every day. I recognize the responsibility that comes with this position, and I do not take it lightly. I am grateful for the opportunity to lead the department into its next chapter and excited about what we can accomplish together for MPD and the community we are proud to serve.”
Farmer is set to begin his new role as Muskogee Chief of Police on Sept. 1.
