GLENPOOL, Okla. — The Glenpool Police Department said they called out the Southwest Tactical Team (SWAT) to assist them with an arrest after a man’s actions after a car crash gave them safety concerns about the wellbeing of a female victim.

On Feb. 21, Glenpool Police said they were called out to a car accident near Highway 75 and East 156th Street South.

Following the crash, police said an intense investigation began due to reports of threats made by a suspect with a firearm against a female victim.

According to authorities, the suspect had already left the area when they arrived, but officers said they were able to determine he had likely gone to a nearby home in the neighborhood.

The police department said it decided to request SWAT’s assistance due to their concern for the safety of the victim.

Through the work of both agencies, the suspect—identified as Michael Whitman—was able to be safely taken into custody.

The department said no officers were injured and confirmed there is no ongoing threat to the public.
