WAGONER COUNTY, Okla. — The Wagoner County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a man after they say he assaulted deputies.
According to the report, deputies were in the area of East 742 Road and South 272 investigating a reported theft of a trail camera on Monday around 9:30 a.m. While on scene, a resident said a man wearing a white hoodie fled the area when deputies arrived.
Deputies located the individual, indentified as Jonathan K. Freeman of Wagoner, at a construction site near Southwest 15th Street and US-69, south of Wagoner Lumber.
As deputies attempted to make contact, they say Freeman armed himself with a three-foot wooden stake and refused commands from the deputies to stop. They were later able to de-escalate the situation and Freeman dropped the stake.
When deputies advised Freeman that he had an active felony warrant through the Muscogee Creek Nation for domestic abuse, deputies say he resisted, assumed an aggresive stance, and tried to flee. They say Freeman grabbed a deputy’s service weapon, but they were able to maintain control of it.
While being restrained, deputies say Freeman continued to resist and defecated on himself and smeared feces on his hands which got on deputies and a Wagoner Police Department officer during his arrest and transport.
Freeman was evaluated by Wagoner EMS and medically cleared. He was taken to the Wagoner County Detention Center where he was charged with aggravated assault and battery on a police officer, four counts of placing body fluids on a government employee, obstructing an officer, resisting an executive officer, and outstanding felony warrant for domestic abuse.
Freeman was taken to a Muscogee Creek Nation holding facility due to his tribal status.
