TULSA, Okla. — The City of Tulsa launched Neighborhood Connect, a program designed to help neighborhood leaders and organizations share ideas, build partnerships and strengthen connections.

The initiative’s goal is to bring residents together and empower them to collaborate, build relationships and solve problems alongside neighborhood leaders, businesses, schools, religious organizations and other community groups.

City staff from the community planning team will help facilitate a one-time engagement, assisting in designing, planning and hosting a meeting tailored to residents’ specific goals.

“Neighborhood Connect was inspired by strong community interest expressed during our Neighborhood Leaders Luncheon and Neighborhood Academy,” said Alisia Myers, Neighborhood Liaison for the City’s Planning & Neighborhoods Department. “Residents have consistently voiced a desire for more actionable and meaningful opportunities to connect with one another and with the City, which led to the development of this new program.”

The City said ultimately, Neighborhood Connect equips neighbors with tools, facilitation support and relationship building opportunities so they can continue the work independently after the meeting ends.

The program aims to help neighborhoods grow their capacity, build trust and create pathways for collaboration across the City.

The City said Neighborhood Connect will do the following:

  • Help neighborhood leaders and organizations share ideas, build partnerships and strengthen community connections
  • Connect residents with neighborhood leaders and City officials
  • Support collaboration on community projects
  • Amplify neighborhood voices across Tulsa
  • Provide City-supported planning and facilitation for a customized, single-session meeting
  • Assist in coordinating participation from City of Tulsa departments when needed
  • Prioritize empowering residents to build long-term relationships and carry their work forward
