Officers found a man in the front yard with a gunshot wound. The victim, who was identified as 38-year-old Elio Hernandez, was pronounced dead on the scene by medical personnel.

During the investigation, officers determined a fight had taken place inside the house between the victim and another person.

Police said the suspect left the scene following the fight, then returned a short time later and shot the victim, who was outside with several other people.

The suspect, who was later identified as 42-year-old Jesus Garcia, left the scene before officers arrived.

On Thursday, Muskogee Police announced that Garcia was taken into custody by a law enforcement agency near Del Rio, Texas.

Elio’s family has set up a GoFundMe to help cover funeral costs.

“Elio was a loving, kind, and hardworking person whose life was taken too soon due to a violent incident in Oklahoma,” reads the GoFundMe. “His passing has left our family and friends heartbroken. During this incredibly difficult time, our brother is doing everything possible to give him a proper farewell.”
