TULSA, Okla. — Tulsa International Airport achieved a major milestone today, as the first-ever direct international flight took off from TIA this morning.

Sun Country Airlines flight number 1747 took off from Tulsa at 11:44 this morning, on its way directly to Cancun, Mexico.

Direct international flights from TIA have now been made possible by the airport’s brand-new 45-thousand square foot customs facility that just opened a couple of weeks ago.

Minneapolis-based Sun Country will run the Tulsa to Cancun flight twice a week, on Thursdays and Sundays.

The airline is also offering a new non-stop flight to Minneapolis from Tulsa, which will also run on Thursdays and Sundays.
