TULSA, Okla. — The Department of Justice announced a former middle school teacher who worked at the Tulsa Honor Academy and Dove Science Academy was rearrested and charged with Receipt of Child Pornography and Possession of or Access with Intent to View Child Pornography.

We covered when 32-year-old Zachary Christian Speegle was arrested in March after he was accused of having an inappropriate relationship with a student at Tulsa Honor Academy where he worked as a teacher.

Authorities stated Tulsa Police Child Crisis Unit investigators received a report about the inappropriate relationship in February, leading law enforcement to conduct a search warrant on Speegle’s home later that month.

Court documents state over 8,000 files with child sexual abuse material were found on Speegle’s devices, along with over 6,000 files of child erotica and age-difficult sexual abuse material.

Speegle was arrested and charged in state court in March for Lewd Molestation/Indecent Proposal to a Child and Aggravated Possession of Child Sexual Abuse Material.

At that time, authorities stated Speegle was allowed to post bond.

However, according to court documents, prosecutors have now requested Speegle be held because they believe he is a danger to others in the community.

Though Speegle has no children living with him, investigators stated underwear belonging to young children had been stolen from a friend’s house and was found during the search of Speegle’s home.

The court also provided a screenshot of a text message investigators said Speegle sent to a minor where he stated, “I would literally rob 10 banks and kill 100 people to get [victim’s name] back.”

Authorities stated Speegle will be held until his detention hearing, which will be scheduled for a later date.

In March, Tulsa Honor Academy provided FOX23 with the below statement following Speegle’s arrest:

“The safety and well-being of our students is our highest priority. When concerns are raised, we take them seriously and act promptly in accordance with our policies and reporting obligations. Tulsa Honor Academy immediately reported this matter to law enforcement and is cooperating fully with their investigation. Our focus remains on supporting our students and maintaining a safe learning environment.”
