Tulsa Police arrest man they say threatened children at gunpoint after hit-and-run crash

TULSA, Okla. — The Tulsa Police Department arrested a man they said assaulted his girlfriend and threatened her children at gunpoint following a hit-and-run crash on Friday.

Around 10:50 p.m. on Friday, officers said they were called out to a reported hit-and-run crash on southbound Highway 75, near the Gilcrease Expressway.

At the scene, authorities said they found a white Toyota Avalon in a ditch.

Police said the victim and several witnesses were also in the area and explained to officers what had occurred.

According to the victim, she was driving in her white Toyota Avalon with her 9-year-old and 10-year-old children when she said her 41-year-old boyfriend intentionally ran her off the road while driving a gray SUV.

The victim stated the suspect then exited his car and assaulted her before threatening her two children at gunpoint.

The victim said the suspect then got back into the gray SUV and drove away from the scene, hitting a car belonging to a witness as he left.

Authorities said they went to the suspect’s house and located the damaged gray SUV in the driveway.

Police said the suspect was at home and eventually surrendered to officers, allowing himself to be taken into custody.

On Saturday, officers said they returned to the house with a search warrant and located a revolver.

Due to previous felony convictions, the suspect wasn’t legally allowed to possess firearms.

The suspect was booked into the Tulsa County Jail and he’s set to face the following charges:

  • Domestic Assault With a Dangerous Weapon
  • Possession of a Firearm After Former Conviction of a Felony
  • Feloniously Pointing a Firearm
  • Leaving the Scene of a Collision
