The company that was considering buying land for a data center in Broken Arrow has pulled out, according to city officials.
Broken Arrow City Manager Michael Spurgeon said the city learned of the change when the owner of the property called the city.
“He had a letter of intent to sell the property to this company… that letter of intent expired.” Spurgeon said. “From our understand, that prospective company, for now, has pulled out of wanting to purchase that property in east Broken Arrow.”
According to the city, no reason was given or discussed as to why the letter of intent was not renewed.
In April, KRMG broke the news that a site selector had expressed interest in a pre-development meeting, which would have been the first chance for city leaders to meet with the prospective company. The City of Broken Arrow said an official request never came and that meeting never happened.
The land in question, as shown in the map above, is near the Creek Turnpike and Highway 51.
City leaders caution that even though this particular data center discussion is over, others may come up in the future.
“I believe we’re going to continue our due diligence.” Spurgeon added. “I’m going to look at the options and then I’ll probably have some recommendations for the city council very soon.”
