MIAMI, Okla. – Authorities were investigating an officer-involved shooting at the welcome center near Miami following a report of a stolen vehicle on the Will Rogers Turnpike for several hours on Tuesday.
When Miami officers responded to the scene, a man in the vehicle showed a weapon, resulting in the officers opening fire.
The Miami exit was closed on the Will Rogers Turnpike in both directions for most of the day.
While the Miami Police say that there is no ongoing threat to the public, the Oklahoma Highway Patrol and the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation are conducting an investigation.
