WAGONER COUNTY, Okla. — Seventeen people were rescued Thursday evening after severe storms damaged Whitehorn Cove Marina and left it disconnected from the shore, according to Wagoner County Emergency Management.
Authorities said Wagoner County 911 received a call shortly before 5:30 p.m. reporting the marina had broken away from shore. The Whitehorn Cove Fire Department and Wagoner County Emergency Management responded to the scene.
Emergency management officials said straight-line winds from the storm blew out windows at the marina’s restaurant and pulled walkways away from the shore, leaving 17 people stranded inside the detached marina.
Officials also reported multiple downed power lines and debris blocking part of the roadway leading to the marina.
Rescuers safely brought all 17 people back to shore. Wagoner County Emergency Management said no injuries to the occupants of the marina or first responders were reported.
Employees of Whitehorn Cove Marina assisted emergency crews and are working to secure the property, officials said.
