TULSA, Okla. — The Tulsa Police Department arrested a man accused of meeting with a runaway teen and harboring her in a hotel room.
The Broken Arrow Police Department began investigating a runaway 14-year-old girl on July 11. Later in the week, BAPD asked for assistance from TPD’s Sexual Predator Investigations/Digital Evidence Recovery (SPIDER) Unit and the FBI.
An Endangered Missing Persons Alert was sent out to mobile devices in the area, and TPD police received multiple calls about possible sightings of the victim, but she was not found.
On Saturday, the FBI found surveillance video from July 11 showing the victim at a QuikTrip talking to 43-year-old man, who worked there as a clerk. The video shows the suspect walking the victim into a vehicle outside, then later meeting up with her at a nearby restaurant.
Automated License Plate Readers (ALPR) helped investigators track down the vehicle registered to the suspect outside of a hotel near East 71st Street and South Mingo Road.
The victim was found inside the hotel room and taken to a safe location. Detectives collected evidence from the room and interviewed the suspect, who refused to provide information about himself.
