TULSA, Okla. — A man is dead after police say he broke into a home in south Tulsa Saturday night.
According to police, it began when officers responded to a call at Urban Oaks Apartments near 51st Street and Lewis around 10 p.m. They say a man, 32-year-old Payden Bloem, and his girlfriend were involved in a domestic altercation based on conflicting statements from the girlfriend and parents of both.
Officers tracked down a pickup truck near 60th and New Haven Avenue and saw Bloem running away. Officers set up a perimeter, but were unable to find Bloem.
At around 11 p.m., officers responded to a burglary call at a home near 58th and Lewis. They say a caller said a shirtless man broke into his house and was bleeding and unresponsive on the floor. Officers made the connection it was Bloem from the domestic call. Police say Bloem broke through the back door through the glass window pane, which cut his arm. Officers applied a tourniquet to his arm, but Bloem was pronounced dead at the hospital later that night.
