BROKEN ARROW, Okla. — The City of Broken Arrow is closing down a mile-long stretch of a recreation trail, because of a failing retaining wall.
It’s on the Liberty Trail on the north side of the Creek Turnpike, between Aspen and Elm.
Broken Arrow Special Projects Manager Jennifer Tillson says time, and all the heavy rain this year have taken a toll.
“The water is getting stuck behind the wall, and because of a build-up of hydrostatic pressure, the wall is now failing,” Tillson said.
So, she says it’s just not safe, especially considering that there will be construction crews is the area too.
She says repairs are set to start next month and will take about 4 months, during which time, the trail between Aspen and Elm will be closed.
