CLEVELAND COUNTY, Okla. – It’s not a loose animal that we typically see in Oklahoma, but there’s one loose and missing today.
The Cleveland County Sheriff’s office is asking residents to be on the lookout for a Caiman in the north Norman/south Moore area. The Caiman was last reported loose near a mobile home park close to the intersection of S Sunnyland Road and E Indian Road.
Caimans are native to Central and South America and are a smaller relative to alligators and crocodiles. Many species of caiman are considered to be more aggressive than alligators which explains the dangerous nature of one on the loose in residential areas.
The Sheriff’s office is warning that everyone in the area needs to keep a close eye on their pets and small children. If you see the animal, please call 911.
