TULSA, Okla. — The Tulsa Police Department said they’ve released a man who was accused of killing a family member who was found deceased, stating further investigation indicates the victim’s death likely wasn’t a homicide.
On July 30, the department said officers were called to a home near Oklahoma Street and North Birmingham Place after receiving reports that a man had been found dead at the home.
At the scene, authorities said they found the body of 29-year-old Jason Waldeck.
According to police, Waldeck had sustained a forehead wound and lost a significant amount of blood, which was apparent from the state of the scene.
Investigators said initial scene conditions allowed them to establish probable cause and led to the arrest of a family member who lived in the home.
Police also said laboratory testing confirmed evidence taken from the scene wasn’t linked to the head wound Waldeck received.
The Tulsa Police Department said the Medical Examiner does not believe Waldeck’s death was a homicide; however, they stated the exact cause of his forehead injury and his official final cause of death is still pending.
