TULSA, Okla. — The Tulsa Police Department said citizens and first responders worked together to save victims from a burning car following a crash.
Around 6:32 p.m. on Friday, officers said they were called out to an injury accident on East 41st Street, near the Broken Arrow Expressway.
According to authorities, a white F-350 was driving in the westbound lanes of East 41st Street when it attempted to turn left and pulled in front of a black Dodge Challenger driving eastbound.
Police said the Challenger hit the truck, causing it to roll and catch fire.
The department said several citizens in the area rushed to help the people inside the Challenger and managed to pull the car’s two passengers out to safety.
Once officers arrived at the scene, they said they began using fire extinguishers on the burning car and working together to rescue the driver.
The department said Tulsa firefighters and officers were eventually able to rescue the driver.
Authorities said firefighters began to provide the driver with lifesaving medical treatment at the scene before they were taken to the hospital in critical condition.
Thankfully, authorities stated the driver is currently expected to survive.
Police said the Challenger’s two passengers and the driver of the F-350 were also taken to the hospital for treatment.
