TULSA, Okla. — Tulsa Community College is getting ready to start a major, $57-million renovation of its Metro campus in downtown Tulsa.

TCC says work will focus on the Academic Building, which is the former headquarters for Sinclair Oil Company, and the Student Union building, which is the former Manual Arts Building for Central High School.

TCC says its been using some of that space for more than 56 years, and the buildings themselves are even older, so they need considerable work.

In fact, they say 28-percent of the buildings’ space is unused because it lacks the right size and infrastructure.

They say the 18-month renovation will start in December and will happen in phases, so it won’t disrupt classes as much.

When they’re done, they say the buildings will be better utilized with larger classrooms, new science labs, and infrastructure upgrades.
