TULSA, Okla. — Langston University’s School of Nursing and Health Professions will be offering Public Health and Healthcare Administration classes at its Tulsa and Oklahoma City campuses in Spring 2026.
“Offering these courses at the Tulsa and Oklahoma City campuses this spring is essential to meeting the needs of students, the workforce and the community, while advancing the mission of the School of Nursing and Health Professions,” said Dr. Teressa Hunter, the dean of Langston’s School of Nursing and Health Professions. “These offerings expand access to high-demand academic pathways, support timely degree completion, align with the priorities of the healthcare administration and public health workforce, and reinforce the institution’s commitment to preparing competent, healthcare and community responsive health professionals.”
Public Health and Healthcare Administration have been available as bachelor degree programs at Langston University’s main campus for several years.
School officials said they hope offering these classes at their urban campuses will help provide more flexibility for older adult learners and those actively working in either city.
Dr. Sandra Brown, an assistant professor in the university’s Healthcare Administration and Public Health program, said the classes are designed to be practical and offer real-world learning experiences for students.
“We provide an interdisciplinary approach to learning. Healthcare leaders can no longer afford to learn and work in silos. Interdisciplinary professional education is critical to understanding the multiple roles in healthcare, is essential in fostering mutual respect, and helps to enhance patient outcomes.”
The medical and health services management industry is projected to have a job growth rate of about 23%, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics.
With their low faculty-to-student ratio and dynamic courses, Langston University said they’re well-equipped to teach students the skills they need to obtain a job in this rapidly expanding industry.
Below are the list of courses being offered at the Tulsa and OKC campuses:
Healthcare Administration:
- HA 3253 – Introduction to Healthcare Administration
- HA 3063 – Introduction to Gerontology
Public Health:
- PUH 2333 – Introduction to Public Health
- PUH 2313 – Global Health
Enrollment for the classes at both campuses is currently open.
